The closure of the 99 Cents Stores across Los Angeles is an enormous loss for the neighborhoods they served.

In the communities the stores served, it wasn't just a matter of getting good deals. The stores were a reprieve from the rampant inflation that has affected prices in all the major grocery chains and a lifeline for people just trying to get by. I took these photographs about a week before this location closed for good to document it's last days of operation.
